Highlights - JURI Committee: Plenary debates - Committee on Legal Affairs

On 23 October, there was a presentation of the report on protection of whistle-blowers (17.00-23.00). On 26 October, there will be a debate on the report on monitoring the application of EU law 2015, as well as on the report on implementation of the Environmental Liability Directive (9.00-11.00).

The implementation report calls on the Commission to clarify the concept of 'significance threshold', to consider the possibility of imposing liability for damage to the air and of establishing a European Fund for insolvency risks. It also asks for mandatory financial security, the abolition of the permit and state-of-the art defences and the extension of strict liability to non-Annex III activities.
